Argos Home category customer experience

My role: UI/UX Design | Customer experience | Web design

Aims: Improve the category navigation and shopping experience for home category customers on the Argos website.

Argos offers a huge range of home furniture, furnishings, decorations and ranges for customers to choose from. This can often make the shopping experience difficult, confusing, time consuming and ultimately cause customers to disengage.

My role in this project was to develop navigation pages which can simplify and display the wide ranges Argos offer but also improve the navigation through the layers of product categories. Each page has the appropriate sub categories displayed with an image of a product so customers can easily navigate to the products they wish to browse.

I approached this by first creating modular components which can be used to display both cut-out and lifestyle imagery and be combined in different arrangements to offer flexibility when building the web pages dependent on the categories. Rows can either show 1, 2 or 3 columns which is chosen based on the sub category importance. Clear header banners show the customer which home category they are viewing and I have also used colours throughout the pages that are associated with the different rooms e.g. light blue for the Bathroom shop and brighter colours for the Kids Bedroom shop.
